Surface Roughness Analysis on the Dry Turning of En8 Steel
Abstract
Surface finish nowadays, is an important indicator of quality in manufacturing industries and thus it is regarded as one of the most important parameter to be considered. In this present study, different machining parameters were taken and their effect on surface roughness has been analyzed. Cutting parameters taken were spindle speed and feed rate while depth of cut was kept constant. EN8 steel was the workpiece material for the study. Further the analysis and optimization of surface roughness was also done using taguchi method to find contribution of different cutting parameters on surface roughness. The results show that all the input process parameters affect the surface roughness of EN 8 steel specimen but feed rate affect most.
