Cassia tora Leaves Extract as Mild Steel Corrosion Inhibitor in Sulphuric Acid Solution
Abstract
The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.5 M H2SO4 was investigated in the presence of Cassia tora leaves extract (CTLE) using weight loss measurement, fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis. The measurements showed a gradual increase in the inhibitors efficiencies by increasing the concentration of inhibitor. Surface activity-inhibition tendency relation showed the gradual decrease of the inhibition efficiency by increasing temperature. SEM analysis indicated the changes in metal surface morphology in the presence of inhibitor molecules.
